Westplains

Westplains is hard to describe. it appears on some maps but not on others. It is not mentioned on many ( if any) websites. The best description of it comes from MapQuest, and it is a pretty basic description. The neighborhood of Westplains is located in Logan County in the State of Colorado

History

Westplains, Colorado, is a small, isolated area located in northwestern Logan County. Historically, it has been a cluster of ranch buildings, with one structure possibly serving as a post office. This area is among the most remote places in Eastern Colorado, and its grove of trees can be seen from miles away.

Unlike the well-documented ghost towns in the Colorado mountains, Westplains and similar prairie towns often consisted of just a few buildings, such as a house, a store, and sometimes a school. These towns were often centered around a post office, which could move locations as families no longer wanted people coming into their homes.

Comment

If this were not listed as a place on some maps, I doubt history will ever make any more mention of a town over a 100 miles east in the eastern plains of Colorado, called "Westplains"
