Kersey
The Town of Kersey is a Statutory Town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,495 at the 2020 United States Census.
History
Kersey, Colorado, has an interesting history that dates back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Originally, it began as a railroad stop called Orr on December 20, 1894. The town was later incorporated on December 3, 1908, and renamed Kersey. Kersey is located on the eastern edge of irrigated land before the landscape transitions to the Eastern Plains. The Latham Ditch, an important irrigation channel, has been vital to the town’s agricultural success. The town’s founding coincided with an agricultural boom, driven by the adoption of dry land farming techniques and a growing market for farm commodities. Despite its small size, Kersey has maintained a tight-knit community and a rich history. The town spans just 1.1 square miles and is home to approximately 1,500 residents.

Kersey is located at 40°23′10″N 104°33′41″W (40.386060, -104.561453). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.1 square mile, all of it land.

Kersey has some well maintained areas, and as such, much more alive than many of the towns in the area.
